Project Corkboard Public! Build 0.12

Happy to announce that I am working full-time on Project Corkboard! Working title, but it's built off of what will be the core concept gameplay, posting notes and screen-captures from an in-game internet database, and using it like a real detective to connect clues you find and help you draw your solution. So far I've just barely scratched the surface, doing general asset generation and environment testing, but I've got the environment in a generally functional state. From now, I am building the core mechanics of the game with will include:

  • An in-game computer interface which will include at least 4 apps such as an internet browser, digital notepad, image inspector, and a news archive.
  • The title inspiring corkboard which will allow you to post any amount of notes, pictures, or screen captures printed from the in-game computer, organizing and connecting them with the classic cloth thread as you see fit.
  • A "sanity" resource system through which the challenge and tertiary gameplay will function. Concept: As sanity drains, antagonists and other odd-occurrences that will need to be avoided or confronted will begin to appear. Sanity can be regained to make these events end, if you can survive long enough to accomplish a variety of activities such as sleep, a shower, or a drive.

And finally, I want the final 1.0 of this project to have a scope of at least 4 full case-files (or levels) which will follow your investigation over 4 separate conspiracy theories, and I want to give you the ability to solve each theory in at least 10 separate paths. Depending on the general reception of the game, I may be up to adding more case-files as free DLC. Let me know what you think via Twitter @teerael, or by email @ creativityiscontrol@gmail.com. :)

I will be updating these devlogs every new build, which I build every Sunday night. Until then, here is what I have built this week, which is essentially just the basic environment and set-pieces, sans the cork-board which I will have to make by hand. Stay tuned for updates, I'm super excited to see where this goes!
