New Build! Environment Build 0.15.6

Hey there!

Super excited to show you this weeks changes! I got a couple messages about the first build not running properly, and it took me a while to figure out but this one should come packaged, ready to go. Same procedure, just download and go through the simple installer, and select the '0.15.6.exe' executable it creates and it should be playable. Let me know if issues persist! :)

Changelog - (0.15.1-0.15.6)

  • New Computer Program (TinderPile)Pretty simple program, but could be very useful to players in 1.0. Allows you to delete and restore .ash files created in the AshNotes program. Fairly self explanatory, but you can select any saved .ash files from the dropdown (which automatically populates as you save .ash files) and select the button under the B.A.R. text to delete it. This then populates it into the second dropdown, which you can select deleted .ash files and click the second button to restore them in full to the AshNotes program and first dropdown.
  • New Computer Program (MyTodd) A sort of Program Files for the in-game OS. Currently only has one function, but it's an important one. You can use this Print function to print a page which will populate an in-game object in the printer behind the main desk. Complete with 3D sounds and animation! :D Currently no content will populate on the printed page, but this will be how you capture information on your screen to place on the Corkboard as you feel necessary. There is also currently no way to pick up each printed page object. This will be the main objective of the next build.
  • New Computer Program (FireBrand) This is the main web-browser that you will be using to navigate the web as you search for clues to solve the theory you are currently working on. Being one of the main gameplay modes, this will vary from case to case and playthrough to playthrough. Currently un-populated, but the framework is in place so I can quickly populate it with a realistic scale of internet pages to sift through from forums to video sharing sites.
  • New Set Piece (Case Notes)This will be probably the most important bit of your early-game. The case notes folder will contain a pre-prepared assortment of clues and notes that the player character has gathered so far, which will give your search a jumping point and direction so you as the player don't feel aimless as you browse through the internet. This will include pictures, notes, newspaper clippings, etc. etc. As you progress the case, you will notice that the case notes folder will populate with conclusions and hypotheses that will feel like a natural progression based on the information that you as the player collect, which will allow you to 'close' the case, providing a win-state for the game. Currently no interaction available, but you can notice the very very different look to the case notes table, in the main lobby of the house directly in front of the couch.
  • New Set Piece (Corkboard!)Finally! Big big thanks to Buğra Hekimhan of Reberu Game Studio for the absolutely gorgeous model for this! This is going to be the absolute key component to solving each case, as you will be able to take pages printed off of your computer screen and tag them directly to the board. Once you've posted to the corkboard, you will then be able to weave a colored thread to other posted clues on the board, in order to visually draw ties from clue to clue. As you weave two clues together, check the Case Notes file to see if you have unlocked any clues or conclusions, and think it through to solve the case.

That's all for this week, getting much close now, just a couple more core mechanics to be build, interactable systems to be tuned, and it's a straight shot to launch! Thanks again everyone for the support, see you next week!

Jusqu'à notre prochaine réunion!
